Peaceful Mint Tea

6 Oct

Right now I’m sipping Peggy Knickerbocker’s (quite the last name!) Mint Tisane, which you can find here, or on page 48 of The Oprah Magazine Cookook. Amid O recipes for Pomegranate Daquiris, Vodka-Espresso Cocktails, and Cactus Pear Margaritas, the soothing simplicity of this cup of tea seemed like the perfect way to end the day.

This basic tisane simply calls for a bunch of fresh mint, which I love to buy at Kin’s because it’s only a buck and is always very fresh, and boiled water. Lemon verbena and sugar are both optional, and I didn’t add them.

One thing I like is that this tea doesn’t have the overkill intensity that some prefab mint teas seem to have. Though it’s really straightforward, both in preparation and taste–and I kind of can’t help but feel I’m just sucking on wet mint leaves ;)–it is fairly soothing and satisfying.

Sweet dreams!
